The G20 leaders at the online summit want to commit to funding equitable distribution of coronavirus vaccines and drugs around the world so that aid is available to developing countries.
Reported by Reuters with reference to the draft G20 communiqué.
“We recognize mass vaccination as a global public good,” the communiqué says.
The draft also speaks of the G20’s aspirations to prepare for any possible pandemic in the future, develop detection and response mechanisms, and “continuously share relevant, transparent and standardized data and information.”
The G20 online summit, chaired by Saudi Arabia, is taking place this weekend. In addition to the problem of the coronavirus pandemic, the summit discusses issues of strengthening the health sector, supporting the most vulnerable groups of society.
