In 2020 Chris Hemsworththe star who plays Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and who owns many roles known all over the world, has joined the cast of Furiousbut will he be the antagonist?
The film, prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road Of George Millerreleased in 2015, is expected to see the light in 2023. Although the character played by Hemsworth has been kept under wraps, new information suggests that the actor may play the role of antagonist in post-apocalyptic film.
The podcast Blank Check with Griffin and David recently presented Kyle Buchanan as a guest. The latter is a New York Times reporter and author of the book Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Roadout today, Tuesday 22 February 2022.
Regarding the upcoming prequel to the film, Buchanan said:
They have Chris Hemsworth as their villain, and I’ve heard he’s going to be called Dr. Dementus.
Two years ago word got around that the producers of Furious they were courting Hemsworth for an important role within the film. The Illuminerdi reported that Warner Bros. had been eyeing the Marvel Cinematic Universe star for the male lead role in the prequel to Mad Maxknown simply as Dementus. An alleged casting described the character as “breathtakingly beautiful, sporting an angel face marked by a deep wound on the forehead, stitched together with shiny staples“.
At the time, no mention was made of Dementus’s role as antagonist. Deadline reported in October 2020 that Chris Hemsworth had officially joined the cast of Furious alongside Anya-Taylor Joy (The Queen of Chess) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. However, Abdul-Mateen had to abandon the project and, as a replacement for him, Tom Burke was chosen.
We remember that Mad Max: Fury Road came out in 2015, with Tom Hardy in the role of Max Rockatansky, alongside Charlize Theron who played the Furious Empress.
