Yesterday, the Serie A clubs unanimously approved the arrival of funds investment in the ‘media company’ of the championship, with a 10% share. The team formed by CVC, Advent and Fsi will disburse 1.7 billion euros to manage and sell the television rights. In addition, as the ‘Corriere dello Sport‘, the group will guarantee a loan of 1,200 million more, with very favorable conditions. It is oxygen for movement, which will close 2020 with losses of 600 million due to the crisis, with many teams struggling to pay the salaries of footballers.
The president of Lega Serie A, Paolo Dal Pino, spoke of the invention of a “new business model”, created by the teams “in a difficult context like the one we are experiencing”. “Serie A is trying to get out of this crisis with its strength,” said the championship’s CEO, Luigi De Siervo, who asks also aid from the Government: “They should see us as an industry, a movement with millions of people.” With this step, Serie A imagines creating a company capable of broadcasting matches and creating digital content independently, sold all over the world.
