Ana Blandiana is the recipient of the 2024 Princess of Asturias Award for Literature. A cult author throughout Europe, her work “reflects – as has been written – a deep knowledge of the Romanian spirit during a historic period of oppression, and establishes guidelines as of his literary project defeat and hope”, according to the Princess of Asturias Foundation.
Known for her poetry in favor of freedom and human dignity, he explains, Blandiana was distinguished by a sublime rebellion that led her to live for years as an exile within her own country.
