The winner of seven Grand Tours took part in an initiative in support of those suffering from intellectual disabilities. In your free time, space for a visit to the Everglades and … its most famous resident
Falls, aches and even a tropical illness: 2021 was not a memorable year for Chris Froome. The British champion, however, does not lose confidence in his own means and the desire to commit himself, for himself as for others. So, after taking part in the gathering of his team, the Israel Start-Up Nation, in Jerusalem a few weeks ago, the winner of seven Grand Tours headed to Florida, splitting between charity and fun, while taking some risks.
SUPPORT
–
Froome took part in the Best Buddies Challenge, a ride held in Miami to help raise money for a non-profit organization that works to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Also present with him was Bobby Julich, a former American rider who in 1998 finished third in the Tour de France won by Marco Pantani in front of Jan Ullrich.
FUN
–
In addition to cycling for a good cause, Chris has explored the natural beauty of Florida. The cyclist of the Israel Start-Up Nation also visited the famous Everglades, the largest swamps in the US state, meeting one of the symbolic creatures of this territory: the alligator. Froome was immortalized by the others present as he observed the reptile from inside the water, submerged up to the ankles. The animal remained at a safe distance, but Chris still ran a considerable risk. The British then spread the video through his social accounts, joking about it and calling himself a crocodile hunter or a science communicator like David Attenborough. In short, Florida has left its mark on Froome’s heart.
