The employers of the sector affirm that the carrier has been fired after the video was broadcast on social networks
Caged while you wait. This is how a Murcian carrier had to be in a cardboard warehouse in Tarragona during the time it took them to load the merchandise onto their truck. From the Regional Federation of Transport Organizations and Companies in Murcia (Froet) they denounced this treatment that they consider humiliating: «No, it is not a joke; put in a cage of two square meters from which he can only get out if the authorized personnel of the company that owns the warehouse opens it with an electronic key. Of course, there is a chair in the cage ”, wrote Manuel Perezcarro Martín on the official page of the employer’s association.
Froet pointed out that this case is not an exception and that mistreatment of these professionals is a general practice in Europe: “They not only have to wait long hours in factories and warehouses to proceed with the loading or unloading of the vehicle, but in a lot of In cases, it is the driver himself who has to perform such tasks and for free. Aecoc, the main loader association that includes large manufacturers and distribution chains, declared that if these functions were carried out with its personnel, which would be the right thing to do, it would cost them 2,000 million euros a year, ”Perezcarro denounced.
“But where have we come?” Asked the author of the publication. “These kinds of attitudes could be considered a crime of illegal restraint, but, as it turns out, some shippers are already considering our drivers as slaves or animals.”
Perezcarro considered that drivers should be respected in load centers. And he asked that “he be given due treatment and consideration and that, during waiting times, which should be the minimum, while the truck is being loaded and unloaded, the driver be offered a decent space, where he can have access to , at least, toilet and rest area.
In addition, from Froet they affirmed that the Murcian transporter lost his job after the video was broadcast, which went viral on social networks: «The worst of all this is that the sector is so denigrated that the distribution of the video has cost it the loss From work to the transporter who worked for a large Murcian transport operator who, instead of addressing his client to disfigure his behavior and defend the dignity of the transporters who work for him and his own, has chosen to punish the one who has suffered such intolerable vexation. How low it has also fallen in this sector! ”
