Frisians have to travel the greatest distance to get to an ATM. Residents of Opsterland were the least affected.
Figures requested by Omroep Gelderland show that the standard in Friesland is far from being met. This also applies to Groningen.
According to the national standard, a maximum of 0.24 percent of the population is allowed to live further than 5 kilometers from an ATM. That standard is just short of being met: 0.33 percent of all Dutch people live more than 5 kilometers from an ATM.
If that national standard were to be applied to Friesland, it would be far from being achieved: almost 15,000 Frisians have to travel more than five kilometers to withdraw money. That amounts to almost 2.3 percent of all Frisians.
