The Friends of Arthritis Patients Association, affiliated with the Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, announced the launch of a group of innovative awareness initiatives and health programs on the occasion of World Arthritis Day, which falls on October 12 of each year, with the aim of supporting arthritis patients and enhancing health awareness among individuals. The conference witnessed the unveiling of World Arthritis Day activities and programmes, the most important of which were organizing the second Rheumatologists Forum, launching the Rheumatology Challenge, organizing the Friends of Rheumatism Carnival, launching the third edition of arthritis-friendly schools, and conducting medical examinations in private institutions and destinations in the Emirate of Sharjah. And dissemination of awareness messages by rheumatologists, in addition to organizing the Walk for Your Bone Health event in conjunction with World Walking Day and Scientific Week.
Enhancing patients’ quality of life
The President of the Friends of Arthritis Patients Society, Wahida Abdulaziz, confirmed that the launch of these awareness initiatives and programs comes as confirmation of the keenness of the Friends of Arthritis Patients Society to continue its efforts aimed at enhancing the quality of life of arthritis patients and raising the level of health awareness of community members about this disease and methods of treating and preventing it, all the way to achieving Achieving an effective contribution to enhancing the goals of the We Are the UAE 2031 vision so that our country is among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of quality of health care.
She said: “The directives and visions of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, have always been the roadmap for our work and the basic foundation for the success of all the initiatives we launch to enhance awareness and health care, especially with regard to issues of chronic diseases such as arthritis, since At the beginning of this year, we launched several health programs, all of which were crowned with success. The association worked to provide treatment for 13 cases, providing financial support amounting to about 70 thousand dirhams. She added, “Today the association continues this process to announce the launch of a group of initiatives, including health programs and sports activities.” And many other awareness workshops and forums aimed at raising the level of health awareness and improving the physical and psychological health of arthritis patients, expressing her thanks and appreciation to all strategic partners for their continued support of the association for the success of its initiatives.
