The 17-year-old French woman, who two weeks ago invented a kidnapping and thus started a large-scale search, spent the night of her ‘disappearance’ in her grandmother’s house.
This has been confirmed by the public prosecutor of the city of Laval (Mayenne) after reporting by news channel BFMTV. Magistrate Céline Maigné did not say whether Lisa P.’s grandmother was also in the house in Sablé-sur-Sarthe that night. The house is near the kebab shop where P. turned up 24 hours after her disappearance.
The teen admitted last week that she made up the kidnapping. Why is still unclear. She disappeared on Monday, November 8, after leaving her childhood home in Saint-Brice, a rural commune of 530 inhabitants, at about 4 p.m. to go jogging. She regularly walked five kilometers. When she still hadn’t returned by evening, her father followed the running route.
He found several items that belonged to his daughter, such as a GPS watch, telephone and earplugs with traces of blood on them. The terrified man reported the girl’s disappearance to police at 6:40 p.m. He launched a large-scale search in which two hundred gendarmes with sniffer dogs.
Lisa P. stated the next day that she had been kidnapped by two young men. They allegedly beat her and drove a green van to a house from which she managed to escape by beating one of them while the other was gone. The investigators then got into doubts about the story because some of the girl’s statements did not match the facts. For example, the green van was nowhere to be seen on surveillance images.
