Frank Cuesta (53 years old) has once again demonstrated his strength and his sense of humor before adversities by sharing with his followers his physical change after his cancer treatment. The herpetologist has been fighting this disease for more than 20 years and it was a few weeks ago that he announced his treatment. “You know that I have a kind of illness in many years and I am doing an alternative treatment for the last four years and today begins,” he said on January 13 through a video on his YouTube channel.
“I have been fattening because I know that I am going to lower weight, so even if you see that low weight, or that my hair falls or something, it is a normal thing and it is not that I am dying or that something is happening to me” , said in the aforementioned clip. Now, since his sanctuary in Thailand, he has sincerely shown self -confidence how he faces this new stage. In a new published video, Frank appears with a white cap presenting the new animals that have reached their refuge. «Right now this duck has more hair than me. What cloth, ”he said laughing his hair drop due to treatment.
With the sense of humor that characterizes it, the extenista described what the rhythm of life in the shelter in Thailand is. “The sanctuary means eating, shitting, sleeping and if you are lucky from time to time … but come on, how little little here for what I see and with these pints that I have here less,” Cuesta lamented. It should be noted that on several occasions, the animal defender has made it clear that the sanctuary is not only a project for him, but also his refuge and his best medicine to face his illness.
Despite the peace that this place is offered, he has also shared the challenges he has had to face. For example, last summer he suffered a serious poisoning while working in the sanctuary. In a video entitled ‘Sunday I was almost dying in the hospital’, Frank reported how a poisonous frog exposed him to massive poisoning that affected his kidneys, liver and spleen, forcing him to be hospitalized urgently.
His battle against cancer
Frank Cuesta has been fighting for more than two decades against leukemia, a disease that has marked his life but has failed to stop him. During the pandemic in 2020, the naturalist was sincere about his illness through a video in which he told how the whole process had been, since they gave him the diagnosis to his treatments, and indicated that when one receives this type of news « You realize the nonsense you have made, the amount of time you have lost and, above all, you start appreciating a little more every day, every morning, every sun, every moon, every friendship, each person … and you appreciate Life ».
In his own words, the herpetologist has made it clear that despite the challenges that are put in between, he does not give up. “It’s not that I am dying,” he says, remembering that the physical effects with part of the process to be better.

Mentalized in the phrase that characterizes it: “Life is wonderful shit and you have to enjoy it,” his followers consolidate it as an example of how to face life with courage, humor and determination. Based in Thailand for many years, the activist, originally from León, has turned his sanctuary into a symbol of hope not only for the animals he rescues, but also for people who follow his work as a defender of fauna.
In the last video where he can be seen without hair and without eyebrows, he not only shows his work, but also his lifestyle and philosophy that keeps him standing, with positivism and good humor that characterizes him.
