Travelers vaccinated against covid-19 outside the European Union (EU) who want to enter France will not have to present a diagnostic test, the French government said Tuesday, without specifying when the measure will come into force.

“We will announce in the next few days the end of the tests for vaccinated people,” Secretary of State for European Affairs, Clément Beaune, declared on France 2, recalling that the measure was applied in December by the omicron variant.

Anyone over the age of 12 who wants to enter France You must present a negative diagnostic test carried out no more than 48 hours before, a measure that does not apply to tourists from the EU and other European countries, except the United Kingdom.

On the eve of a meeting of the European Ministers of Health and Foreign Affairs in Lyon, in the framework of the French presidency of the Council of the EU, Beaune advanced a new protocol this week for the vaccinated tourists outside the block.

The 27 countries of the European Union already agreed on January 25 to better coordinate the applicable rules within the bloc and to avoid imposing restrictions on those who hold a European health passport.

The spread of Covid-19 in France has slowed down in recent days. On Friday, health authorities reported “a receding incidence rate of 8%” and an average of 273,180 infections daily in the preceding seven days.
