The French authorities sent a batch of medicines to Ukraine. On Sunday, March 6, the agency reports Agence France-Presse with reference to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, Jean-Yves Le Drian.
It is noted that, in particular, a batch of iodine was sent, we are talking about 2.5 million doses of the drug.
Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that the World Health Organization (WHO) delivered more than 36 tons of humanitarian medical aid to Ukraine. Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, said the medicines would be sent to the war-affected areas of the country.
A day earlier, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, said at a meeting of the humanitarian response headquarters that the Russian military had delivered 497 tons of humanitarian cargo to Ukraine.
According to Mizintsev, the humanitarian situation in Ukraine is rapidly deteriorating and continues to assume catastrophic proportions. At the same time, he noted that Western countries pretend not to notice “the extremely plight of people in the territories of Ukraine controlled by neo-Nazis and Bandera.”
On March 2, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the creation of a headquarters for humanitarian response to the situation on Ukrainian territory, the main purpose of which is to provide humanitarian assistance to the population of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the controlled regions of Ukraine.
The situation in Donbass escalated on February 17, 2022. In the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), heavy shelling by Ukrainian security forces, including from heavy weapons, was reported. The republics announced a general mobilization, the evacuation of civilians to the territory of Russia, and also asked to recognize their independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing their sovereignty.
On February 24, the Russian leader announced a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. Then the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov clarified that the special operation had two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. He pointed out that both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
