France France banned the plastic packaging of fruit and vegetables

France has set a target of banning all disposable plastic packaging by 2040.

In France a regulation banning the packaging of fruit and vegetables in plastic has entered into force. Only large packages and processed fruits and vegetables are excluded from the ban, says the broadcaster BBC.

According to the French Ministry of the Environment, the ban will use up to a billion less plastic packaging every year.

France has set a target of banning all disposable plastic packaging by 2040. Last year, plastic disposable cutlery, plastic whistles and cups, and takeaway food packaging made of polystyrene were already banned.

New regulations will come into force later this year. As a result, more water points will have to be placed in public spaces to reduce the use of disposable water bottles.
