The French Foreign Ministry said in its instructions to travelers to Lebanon that “in a very volatile security context, we once again draw the attention of French nationals… to the fact that there are still direct and indirect commercial flights available to France, and we call on them to take measures now to leave Lebanon as soon as possible.”
France thus joins many countries that have asked their citizens to leave Lebanon as soon as possible.
This comes amid increasing tension in the region following the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the war on Gaza.
The assassination of Haniyeh increased the level of tension, with the escalation of Iranian threats to respond to the assassination that took place in Tehran.
Axios news website reported that Iran may attack Israel on Monday, according to American and Israeli officials.
The news website quoted American and Israeli sources as saying that they do not know whether Iran and Hezbollah will launch a coordinated attack or will operate separately.
They added that they believe that Iran and Hezbollah are still working on finalizing their military plans and approving them at the political level.
