The French authorities intend to introduce a third lockdown in the country in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection. On Sunday, January 24, the newspaper writes about this Le Journal du Dimanche citing a government source.
According to him, the decision has already been made, only the terms and conditions of quarantine are being discussed. It is preliminary known that the measures will be taken by the end of next week and will be in effect for at least three weeks. The need for a third quarantine is due to the spread of the British mutation of the coronavirus and a strain from South Africa, the newspaper notes.
On Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron will make an announcement to the nation.
The newspaper’s source clarified that some of the restrictions could be relaxed. So, the work of outlets with goods that do not belong to the category of essentials can be allowed at certain intervals.
On January 14, restrictions were tightened in the country amid the situation with the coronavirus. Since January 16, a curfew has been introduced from 18:00, the rules for entering the territory have been tightened and border controls have been tightened, in particular, tourists must have a negative test for coronavirus and self-isolate for seven days upon arrival. After that, you will need to re-take the test.
According to the International Bureau of Statistics Worldometer, as of January 24, 3,035,181 cases of COVID-19 were detected in France, of which 72,877 were deaths.
