Kyiv wants Washington to remove restrictions on the supply of American tactical ground-to-ground ballistic missiles ATACMS after Russian strikes on infrastructure facilities. This was reported on Monday, October 10, by the magazine foreign policy with reference to a document available to the publication.
As stated in a letter from Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk to members of the US Congress, this will help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) to hit Russian targets at a long distance.
“Ukraine wants the administration [президента США Джо] Biden shed her restraint and provided ATACMS tactical missile systems that could hit Russian targets 200 miles away.
Stefanchuk stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly shot down almost half of the missiles and drones, but Ukrainian air defense resources are limited.
Also, the Ukrainian side asks to organize the supply of F-15 and F-16 fighters to provide an unmanned zone over Ukrainian territory, as well as NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM), adds “Newspaper.ru“.
On October 10, US President Joe Biden, in a conversation with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, promised to continue to support Ukraine, including transferring the latest air defense systems. The head of the White House also condemned the Russian missile strikes.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that the volume of American financial assistance to Kyiv would soon reach the astronomical amount of $26 billion. She also stressed that the United States had actually become a party to the conflict in Ukraine.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region due to increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
