Cold shower for Dino Beganovic at Paul Ricard. The Swedish driver, currently leader of the championship, in both races on the Le Castellet track climbed to the second step of the podium after battling hard with Paul Aron in Race 1 and with Gabriele Minì, giving the public a splendid spectacle.
Late in the evening on Sunday, however, the result of the second race of the weekend was changed and Beganovic excluded from the standings.
After the technical checks, in fact, the PREMA team car entrusted to the Swede was found to be non-compliant and, specifically, the tightening torque of a hub flange of his car was lower than that reported in the car’s technical manual.
Beganovic thus lost the second position conquered on the field, while the second and third step of the podium were inherited by Kas Haverkort and Paul Aron.
The PREMA team has decided to appeal against the decision of the commissioners and in the press release issued in the evening it was highlighted how “the measurement, which the team accepts, concerns a matter included in the technical manual of the car and not in the technical regulation”.
Despite his exclusion from the Race 2 classification, while waiting for the outcome of the appeal presented by PREMA to be known, Beganovic is still at the top of the drivers’ classification with 147 points followed by Gabriele Minì at 102.
