Only Max wins
Max Verstappen has been monopolizing the top step of the podium in Formula 1 for almost two years now. Since the 2022 French GP, that of Charles Leclerc's infamous off-track exit while he was leading the race, the Dutchman from Hasselt has conquered 30 wins in 35 raceswinning 19 of the last 20. In Melbourne the three-time world champion – destined this year to win his fourth consecutive champion crown – could match his record of 10 consecutive victoriesin this case obtained between two seasons.
Formula-boredom
These numbers, disheartening for the competition, legitimately make enthusiasts talk about a sort of Formula-boredom that has established itself in the Circus. However, some of the protagonists of the championship do not like this definition. It is the case of Alex Albon, who was also Verstappen's teammate at the time at Red Bull. The Williams standard bearer wanted to underline to the official F1 website how in reality, behind the Dutch cannibal and the Red Bulls, a very close battle between the other nine teams.
Albon's advice: look beyond Verstappen
“In some ways it's a shame to see the comments about Max and a boring season – declared the Thai driver, still looking for the first points of 2024 with his Williams – because that's not the case at all, at least from my point of view. If you exclude Verstappen you have one of the best grids ever had in Formula 1, among the closest ever. And even keeping Max in the equation, the season is still very balanced and close“. “Everyone focuses on the leader – added Albon – but the races at the back are very intense. In Bahrain, during the race, we pitted two laps late and lost six positions. So there's a big battle.”.
