Räikkönen cruised his teammate in a car Antonio Giovinazzin with when the Italian suddenly decided to work the car horn from the place of the assistant driver. The iceman was at the wheel himself.
Formula fans walking by the side of the road glanced behind them and at first didn’t realize what it was all about. Soon, however, they noticed that an Alfa Romeo driver duo was circling in the back.
The fans pushed their heads into the window opening and Räikkönen began to explain what had happened.
“This Italian hug here is pounding the horn,” he said.
“No no, he was,” Giovinazzi claimed.
Fans dug up their phones and grabbed pictures of the memorable encounter. As the roads parted, they celebrated the memory they received wildly.
Räikkönen and Giovinazz’s fooling around got Alfa Romeo’s Twitter Followers in a wistful mood. Suomalaiskonkari will run his last races in F1.
“I can’t believe he’s leaving after this season,” one of the followers commented.
Räikkönen was tenth and 14th in Austin’s Friday practice. The third practice on Saturday will be run at 9 pm Finnish time. Time trial starts at midnight.
