Singapore.- Monegasque charles leclerc of Ferrari set the fastest time, ahead of the Dutchman Max Verstappen of Red Bull, outstanding leader of the World Championship Formula 1in the last rehearsal for the Singapore Grand Prix, which was held at the rainy Marina Bay circuit.
The Spanish Carlos Sainz of Ferrari and Fernando Alonso of Alpine signed the third and fourth time respectively, and the Mexican Sergio Perez from Red Bull the fifth.
In the best of his eleven laps, Leclerc covered the 5,063 meters of the Singaporean track, in one minute, 57 seconds and 782 thousandths; 208 thousandths less than Verstappen, who leads him by 116 points in the Formula 1 drivers’ championship and who gave one more lap than him, in a session marked by rain, in which very little was filmed; and in which everyone signed their times with intermediate compound tires.
The session was slow to start, since, although the stopwatch started at the scheduled time, the opening of the pit lane exit was delayed due to rainfall. Later, the security car entered, to analyze the situation; and, only with 24 minutes to go, the first car took to the track: Frenchman Pierre Gasly’s Alpha Tauri, which not a few indications place next year in Alpine, replacing Alonsowho will be an Aston Martin driver from 2023.
