A jungle
MotoGP 2023 started in the sign of controversy. Saturday’s Sprint led the riders to force too many maneuvers and the result was the fracture of the right scapula of Enea Bastianini, whose Ducati was hit by that of Luca Marini, who fell in an attempt to attack his compatriot. Fabio Quartararo and Marco Bezzecchi have openly talked about the jungle with the Yamaha rider who has already predicted that there will soon be a big accident in a Sprint. Marc Marquez’s strike in the race did nothing but highlight even more the fact that there is too much aggressiveness on the track.
Exemplary punishments
Claudio Domenicali (CEO of Ducati) and Massimo Rivola (CEO of Aprilia Racing) have asked for exemplary penalties to restore some calm to the track. In the case of Marc Marquez, Race Direction sanctioned the eight-time world champion with a double long lap penalty to be served in the Argentine Grand Prix, but a case is already building relating to this decision which could never be observed by Marquez if he were to miss the Termas de Rio Hondo round.
Equipe: “There’s something from the devil in Marquez”
Within the dedicated pages of the French sports newspaper The Team at the Portuguese Grand Prix of the MotoGP class, the article dedicated to the chaos unleashed by Marc Marquez stands out. The title reads ‘Marquez, du diable en lui‘that is to say “There’s a little devil in Marquez”. “Marquez showed his dark side: that of the rider who despises danger, even for others – reads the service – and in Portimao he embodied evil in the eyes of the Portuguese public enraged at having seen the home favorite Miguel Oliveira mowed down by the Honda rider who was cheered at the end of Qualifying just 24 hours earlier”.
Marca: “Marquez drives the World Cup crazy”
“The World Championship has already gone crazy and Marc Marquez is to blame – the incipit of the article that the Spanish sports newspaper Brand dedicated to the Portuguese Grand Prix – no one questions this fact, not even the person concerned”. The grid splits in two, between those looking for extenuating circumstances for Marc Marquez and those who criticize him heavily. Francesco Bagnaia points out that Marquez was unlucky, Marco Bezzecchi points out that Turn 3 is a curve “enough”. Aleix Espargarò, on the other hand, condemns it: “He could have broken Miguel Oliveira’s knee, he would never race again in his life.”
