Russian Foreign Ministry statedthat Moscow will seek firm guarantees that the states remaining in the Treaty on Open Skies (OST) will fulfill their obligations.
On the night of November 22, the United States completed its withdrawal from the Open Skies Treaty (OST).
The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that the American side purposefully went to undermine the Don. They recalled that the US participation in this agreement was a condition for its entry into force.
The Foreign Ministry explained that, having withdrawn from the Don, the United States believes that its allies will prevent Russian observation flights over US military installations in Europe, and will also share with Washington their photographic materials of Russian territory.
The department noted that this is unacceptable for the Russian Federation, therefore the Russian side will seek firm guarantees that the states remaining in the Don State will fulfill their obligations. It is about ensuring the possibility of observing their entire territory, as well as about the non-transfer of materials from observation flights to third countries that are not members of the OST.
