Take an SUV and marry it with a compact car. The son will be called Ford Tourneo Courier, or what in the now colorful motoring jargon is defined as Urban Activity Vehicle, a vehicle capable of responding to different road challenges with versatility. Only two versions available: Titanium and Active. The first includes alloy wheels, chrome details decorating the front grille and headlights, and comfort-oriented cabin features. The Active version, on the other hand, seems more suited to adventure thanks to its black upholstery, front and rear protections and special design of the alloy wheels.
Only one engine
All models are powered by a single 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with 125PS, which is 25% more power than the previous model. In addition to the six-speed manual transmission, you can also choose a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A 100% electric version will also arrive at the end of the year. The range of advanced driver assistance systems as standard includes the Lane-Keeping System (lane maintenance), Pre-collision Assist (pre-collision emergency braking assistance), Traffic Sign Recognition (recognition of road signs) , Driver Alert (monitoring the driver's attention), Wrong Way Alert (warning of wrong direction) and Cruise Control (cruise speed control). Added to all this are the standard rear parking sensors which, together with a turning circle of 10.7 metres, improve maneuverability and access to tight spaces.
Easy access to features
The console is also new and includes the new SYNC 4 multimedia system. Via an eight-inch central touchscreen it is possible to set music, podcasts, navigation and many vehicle functions. There is also a digital instrument panel that puts the traditional analogue one into retirement and allows the driver to simultaneously view speed, road signs, navigation warnings and other vehicle information, as well as configure the side displays according to their preferences.
Space at will
The exterior facelift was also echoed by a total redesign of the interior, now much larger and more versatile than the previous model, with more space available for both passengers and luggage, which can enjoy 44% more space compared to before (2,162 litres). The work is completed by the large opening of the sliding side doors, which facilitate access to the rear and facilitate the movements of those who have to fasten the seat belts of the little ones. “We designed the Tourneo Courier to guarantee our customers maximum versatility in every moment of their lives, whether traveling in the company of family and friends, or returning home with the rear seats folded down and bicycles loaded in the trunk,” explains Amko Leenarts, Design Director, Ford of Europe. “The SUV-inspired design provides rugged style on the outside and spacious interior, offering a perfect vehicle for our customers' dynamic lives.”
