To the Goodwood Festival of Speed version 2022 also arrived a 2000 horsepower electric van that could be the result of the madness of an entrepreneur not aligned with the houses. Instead it is an electric object prepared by the very traditional Ford. The Ford Pro Electric SuperVan with 1,800 Nm torque is derived from the E-Transit van, but it is ten times more powerful and whimsical than the original. It almost seems that this car is a derivation of a toy car, rather than vice versa.
The power value is obtained from the presence of four electric motors, connected to one liquid-cooled 50 kWh battery. A monster that goes from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 2 seconds, however, could not have any frame: the latter was in fact specially built to take to the track, with components of the recent E-Transit Custom that are been integrated with Ford’s SYNC technology. A specific touchscreen boasts additional functionality to control the electric SuperVan’s unique capabilities.
The all-electric demonstration vehicle was developed by Ford Performance and electrified rally and racing specialists STARD (Austria), while the exterior design was done by the Ford Design team in Cologne, Germany. Aerodynamically, the electric van seems very inefficient, however Ford has seen fit to use a few tricks. The highly sculpted front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser of the body contribute to the aggressive look, while the carvings and the dorsal fin of the rear end flow into the rear wing to generate downforce and ensure greater power and grip of the electric SuperVan on track.
The Ford SuperVan features unequal length double iron link suspension in each corner. The subframes, pillars and front and rear brakes, according to the carmaker, give good braking and steering capabilities. Stylistically, it is a real gem: congratulations to Ford for taking this path, perhaps not completely original but enough to stir the waters of the electric world a bit.
