The American brand Ford presented the new Ranger, a pick-up designed for global markets, but above all for Europe. The model has some technical and design features that differentiate it from previous generations.
First of all, a bolder design was chosen, with a larger grille and ‘C’ headlights with Matrix LED technology. Two central bars run full width, interrupted only by the Blue Oval. The bonnet is particularly sculpted and in general the shapes are more angular than its predecessor. The rear is not that impressive, but the Ranger lettering ‘in large’ still stands out. There is also a new rear bumper with side steps, which help to access the cargo floor, which is larger than in the past. The images below show the set-up Wildtrak.
In addition to the increased dimensions, the cargo floor sports a new upholstery and other cargo lashing points have been added. The tailgate can function as a mobile workbench. Another interesting touch is the zone lighting system, capable of giving 360-degree light around the vehicle. The cockpit features a digital instrument panel and a 10.1 or 12-inch SYNC4 infotainment system, positioned vertically. The menu contains various control options, also for “monitor transmission, steering angle, vehicle pitch and roll angles“.
Under the hood will be available three turbodiesels including a new 3.0-liter V6. That engine will be joined by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder available with one or two turbochargers. The single-turbo variant will be available in two different configurations, while the twin-turbo four-cylinder is announced as an option “more sophisticated”Which should appeal to customers looking for a combination of performance and fuel efficiency. On the petrol side, the pickup will be offered with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. Regarding the transmission, in addition to the six-speed manual, there will be a six-speed automatic and an updated ten-speed automatic. In addition to these basic choices, we are talking about a plug-in hybrid engine, designed specifically for Europe.
