On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (inflation) increased in July by 0.8 percent compared to June, due to an increase in the prices of a group of goods and services, especially foodstuffs and education.
The annual inflation rate reached its peak this year last April at the level of 4.71 percent, before declining in the following three months.
The Statistics Department said that food and beverage groups rose in July by 7.75 percent year on year, clothing 5.59 percent, transportation 4.30 percent, housing services 2.17 percent, health 2.13 percent, and cigarettes and tobacco 0.07 percent.
Most of the world’s countries are witnessing a stifling inflationary wave with the rise in food and energy prices, against the background of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the increase in oil and gas prices.
