Although reluctantly, given his love for the Cavallino brand, the frontman of the Jamiroquai some time ago he put up for sale a black Ferrari F355 Challenge completed between 1994 and 1995. The famous car enthusiast Jay Kay he had therefore separated himself from the nineties model of Maranello; and now the car is back available for auction on CollectingCars.com.
The car was put up for sale by Nigel Chiltern-Hunt – president of the Ferrari Owners Club – and by Tristan Simpson – Ferrari driving instructor. He participated in several competitions, including the Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic, the Pirelli Ferrari Open and the AMOC Intermarque Championship. Presents, due to its history on the track, several scratches: there are chips on the front bumper, on the front hood and along the side skirts; the center console is also not in perfect condition. There are still supports for the use of cameras to film videos, it is not known for sure if they are musical or otherwise. However this should not be the Ferrari used by Jay Kay in the ‘Cosmic Girl’ video, i.e. a ‘standard’ F355 Berlinetta. No information has been given on the website hosting the auction.
The Ferrari F355 Challenge was overhauled towards the end of 2020; the engine was rebuilt in 2018. The car has covered approximately 26,000 kilometers to date, half of which have been recorded on the track. The F355 Challenge is equipped with a host of race-focused features, including a lightweight exhaust, wide rear wing, racing clutch, lightened front bumper and the Ferrari F40’s 14-inch Brembo brakes. The pop-up light pods have been removed to save even more weight and replaced with bumper-mounted spotlights. Inside are roll-bars, racing seat and OMP belts, fire extinguisher, engine stop switch and Momo steering wheel.
