Markus Söder makes the JU laugh, but does not want to have teased Laschet. In the end, his name was deleted from a statement.
Deggendorf – Armin Laschet and Markus Söder were never a dream team. Although they repeatedly asserted that they would get along well with each other, there was a crisis even before the general election. Now that Laschet indicated a withdrawal from the CDU chairmanship, the struggle continues in the CDU, but also with the CSU. But CSU boss Söder also has to listen to criticism. Many think so Germans do not deal fairly with Söder’s chancellor candidate of the Union.
After the federal election: headwind for Söder – name deleted from explanation
And a gentle headwind is blowing against him from another side: from his own party. At the state assembly of the Bavarian Young Union, the delegates voted with a large majority on Saturday to delete Söder’s name from a passage of the declaration that the JU state executive had drafted to deal with the defeat in the federal election. The reason for the symbolic vote were reservations that Söder had become the dominant figure in his party. Teamwork and not a one-man show is necessary, said delegate Stefan Meitinger, who brought in the motion to delete Söder’s name with applause.
“It is time to (…) form a powerful, fresh team behind our strong draft horse Markus Söder, which credibly covers the entire spectrum of a people’s party,” it said in the original draft. In the version that was finally adopted, the “draft horse Markus Söder” was missing, only the “fresh team” remained. The meeting leadership had tried to defuse the vote and submit a compromise proposal, but was not heard. “No,” it rang out from the hall. The vote does not mean an uprising against Söder. The 300 or so JU delegates applauded Söder’s speech beforehand. The CSU boss analyzed the election defeat. He was also allowed to leave the stage with presents – a bag and a baseball cap.
Laughs from Söder – but no teasing
In addition, Söder caused a laugh. At one point he addresses Tilman Kuban, federal chairman of the Junge Union, “on behalf” – “for the whole CDU, for me today you are more or less the CDU chairman”. And then he shoves afterwards: “To all media, this is not a joke.” Söder is currently known for such additions.

Kubicki on Söder: “Just about to ruin yourself politically”
There is also criticism of Söder from the FDP. In an interview with the World on sunday said the deputy FDP chairman Wolfgang Kubicki on the state of the Union. A “Jamaica alliance” (Union, Greens, FDP) has not yet been ruled out. Laschet’s statement still applies. “His word is more important than that of Söder, who is just about to ruin himself politically. I think the Union would be ready for such a coalition if it does not split up in the next 14 days. ”Söder had already spoken of a“ de facto rejection ”. Kubicki considers the appearance of the Union to be “terribly miserable”. (dpa / cibo)
