Football The final round of the regular season was played in the English Championship on Saturday, and there was enough input in the match between Luton and Reading, among others.

The host team, Luton, needed a win to secure a place in the top six and with it in the promotion qualifiers.

The win also came off, but with a really rare goal.

The first half was already overtime when Reading’s Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland knocked the ball into his hands. He set out to open the game by throwing the ball in front of him on the ground with the thought of feeding it from it to his own player.

The same event is repeated in matches numerous times, but on Saturday Nyland had made a mistake he can hardly ever see.

He had forgotten to secure his back.

Luton striker Harry Cornick had a brilliant opportunity to reply as Nyland received a high ball from the right, striking the ball in the air.

Cornick took possession of the ball after a miscued clearance by the defense and capitalized fully on the mistake to make it 1-0.

The match ended 1-0 and Luton secured sixth place. It will face Huddersfield in the first qualifier. The other pair will face Nottingham and Sheffield United. One in four will advance to the Premier League next season with Fulham and Bournemouth.
