Court of Justice Spain in Madrid on Wednesday announced the appointment of a French national football team and Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandezin to be imprisoned. Hernandez, who won the World Cup in France in 2018, violated the restraining order imposed on him in 2017.
Hernandez was arrested in the winter of 2017 after his girlfriend had suffered minor injuries after a couple quarreled. Hernandez, who played at the Atlético Madrid at the time, and his girlfriend were sentenced to 31 days of community service, and the court ordered them not to see each other for six months.
The couple then married in the United States, and when Hernandez was met with his wife after their return to Spain, Hernandez was arrested again.
Hernandez is due to appear in court next Tuesday. According to the law, he must go to prison “voluntarily” within ten days from next Tuesday. However, Hernandez has appealed against the arrest warrant he received.
