The decision to exclude Russia from international football remains valid, the country’s sports federation confirmed.
Russia will not participate in the qualifiers for the 2024 European Football Championship, the country’s football association said on Tuesday.
The Russian national team and the country’s club teams were excluded from international activities when Russia started a war of aggression against Ukraine on February 24.
The European football association Uefa made a decision to exclude Russia from international competition after the start of the war. Russia appealed the decision to Cas, the international court of appeal for sport, last July.
Cas rejected Russia’s bid to get back into international arenas, and the decision to close the country remains in effect.
Russia has also been excluded from the World Cup tournament in Qatar, which starts next November. The country’s national football team made it to the further qualifiers against Qatar, but they missed playing because of the war.
