Aston Villa surprised the big club Bayern Munich in the Wednesday round of the Champions League. The match played at Villa Park ended with a 1–0 victory for the hosts.
The substitute scored the decisive hit John Duran in the 79th minute. The hit started a wild party in the stadium. The club last played in Europe’s brightest cup competition in 1983.
A year earlier, Villa won the European Cup, the predecessor of the Champions League, and in the final, they just beat Bayern Munich – with the same results.
The match was the first home match in the history of Aston Villa in the Champions League. The most prestigious of guests, prince Williamis known as a fanatical Aston Villa supporter. When Duran hit, the cameras picked up a jubilant William in the stands.

Wednesday’s Feyenoord and Atalanta won early matches. Ladislav Krejci shot a 3-2 winning goal for Feyenoord in the 79th minute as a guest of Girona.
Atalanta beat Shakhtar Donetsk cleanly 3-0. They were responsible for the goals Berat Djimsiti, Ademola Lookman and Raoul Bellanova.
