Football International players’ organization: two Ukrainian footballers have died in a Russian attack

“Our thoughts are with the families, friends and teammates of two young Ukrainian players, Vitalii Sapilo and Dmitro Martinenko,” Fifpro wrote.

Bild said Sapilo last played in the 3rd league and Martinenko in the 2nd league. According to the newspaper, both died in Kiev, towards which Russian troops have advanced.

Martinenko and his mother died when the bomb exploded. Sapilon is said to have died while he and his tank were defending the capital, Kiev.
