He Spanish football crisis committee, formed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), LaLiga, the F League, the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE), Futpro and the Federations of the Valencian Community and Castilla La Mancha, met this Tuesday at the RFEF headquarters to address the analysis, reconstruction and aid for this sport in the areas affected by DANA, especially in Valencia.
According to a statement collected by Ep, in Valencia alone there are up to 37 sports facilities damaged, 15 of them football fields completely devastated. Representatives of the RFEF, LaLiga, Liga F, AFE and Futpro established a specific calendar, with specific actions to achieve this objective after learning of the situation reports in these municipalities from the president of the Valencian Community Football Federation, Salvador Gomar, and from the Castilla La Mancha Football Federation, Pablo Burillo.
While in Castilla-La Mancha the most affected sport has been school sports, in the case of the Valencian Community the damage is multiple, affecting a total of 20,000 licenses (more than 15% of Valencian football) and more than 21,000 games to play. “It will be there where an in-depth survey of each of these facilities will be carried out, some of which are federally owned and the other municipal, to then address the reconstruction,” they reported.
Games next weekend
As an immediate measure, the entities agreed to compensate the travel and arbitration costs of all the teams in the affected areas, since this week the competitions will begin in Valencia in those places where it is possible.
The general secretary of the RFEF, Álvaro de Miguel, explained that this “is not just another committee.” “We have the responsibility to go hand in hand and we must return optimism and enthusiasm with this sport,” he expressed. Meanwhile, from LaLiga, its Presidential Chief of Staff, Víctor Martín, highlighted the importance of the cordial relationship of all actors to seek solutions. “It is something that we cannot lose,” he indicated, after recalling that LaLiga has the “real will” to collaborate technically and economically.
The AFE representative, Manuel Tello, contributed the protocol proposal to activate this body in possible new existing crises, something that was also considered essential by the representative of the F League, Pablo Vilches, who also asked to organize the actions so that there is always constant coordination among all Spanish football entities.
For its part, Futpro, with Reyes Bellver, made players available to collaborate on charitable issues, highlighted the importance of the gender perspective in all actions carried out, and stressed supporting team transfers and offering psychological help .
Also present at the meeting were the vice president of the RFEF, Rafa Louzán; the president of Social Responsibility, Jacinto Alonso; and the director of Equality, Social Responsibility and Sustainability, Marisa González; as well as other representatives of the RFEF and LaLiga.
