Football | Antonio Conte quits as head coach of Tottenham with immediate effect

Football In the English Premier League, Tottenham announced late Sunday that Antonio Conte leaves the position of head coach of the club.

According to the club, the Italian head coach’s departure was decided by “mutual understanding”. Conte will be replaced by his assistant Cristian Stellini until the end of the season. Tottenham have ten Premier League games remaining.

Conte started as Tottenham’s head coach in November 2021, and his contract was due to run until the end of the current season.

Earlier in March, Conte was furious after Tottenham played a draw against Premier League jumbo club Southampton. Tottenham already led the match 3–1, but the game finally ended 3–3. After the match, Conte criticized his players in harsh words.

After Conte’s departure, Tottenham is fourth in the Premier League. The team was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Champions League by AC Milan.
