Milan, Pioli’s farewell: “Thank you for the unforgettable scudetto”
Milan and Stefano Pioli separated after five years, 240 benches and a beautiful scudetto in 2022 (without forgetting the Champions League qualifiers, where the Devil reached the semi-finals a year ago). An announced and now official farewell with the Rossoneri club which used beautiful and heartfelt words to greet the Emilian coach, thanking him and his staff “for having led the First Team in these five years, obtaining a Scudetto that will remain unforgettable and for having brought Milan back permanently to the most important European competitions. Stefano, with his professionalism and humanity, was able to enhance the squad and embodied the fundamental values of the Club from day one.”
Milan, Pioli: “Deep gratitude”
In turn, Stefano Pioli “thanks Milan for the opportunity to be part of the history of this glorious Club and expresses deep gratitude towards the owners, managers, team, staff and all the personnel of Milanello and Casa Milan for their support and great professionalism. The coach addresses a special thought to the many fans who have supported Milan in recent years, demonstrating unconditional attachment.”
But it’s already time to look beyond. After Milan-Salernitana the Rossoneri will leave for Australia where they will play a friendly against Roma and Daniele Bonera will be on the bench.
Milan-Paulo Fonseca (almost) there: Rossoneri fans contest the choice of the new coach
Next season? Everything seems to lead, except sensational twists to Paulo Fonseca (to understand whether a two-year or three-year contract) on the bench of Milan.
The former Roma coach (fifth and seventh in his two seasons with the Giallorossi) is about to leave Lille after two years in Ligue 1 which saw his team fifth a year ago and fourth this year behind PSG-Monaco-Brest ( gaining the preliminary qualification of the Champions League).
A choice that doesn’t seem to convince the fans they were dreaming of Antonio Conte or Roberto De Zerbipossibly Thiago Motta (the now former Bologna coach is close to Juventus). But strong doubts from Rossoneri supporters emerge on social media (an online petition has also been created). And in view of Milan-Salernitana, the Curva Sud will break the silence that has started for three games (Genoa, Cagliari and Turin) to say goodbye to PIoli, Kjaer and Giroudbut only in the second half. The first 45 minutes will still be characterized by silence, as reported by Sport Mediaset, to contest the Fonseca choice.
