Mexico City.- This Friday the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur), rejected that more than 20 thousand trees have been felled on the highway Cancun-Tulum, as he assured that it was a rescue and transplant.
Through a statement, Fonatur explained that the trees were relocated to public spaces such as avenues and parks and tourist areas of the town.
“In the median of the federal highway 307 Cancun-Tulum there was no felling, but rather rescue and transplant of trees, which were relocated to public spaces such as avenues and parks of Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos and Cancun, reports the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur)”, mentions the statement.
He added that even part of the approximately 20,000 trees were rescued and transplanted by hoteliers in the area, and among the relocated species are macuili, ceiba, siricote, cedar and palms.
