Foggia, murder in the street during the celebrations for the victory of Italy
A man lost his life on the street last night in San Severo, in the province of Foggia, just as the squares were celebrating the Azzurri’s victory at Euro 2020. His death had nothing to do with the celebrations, but according to the former reconstructions it was a premeditated murder, carried out during the football party to take advantage of the confusion.
His name was Matteo Anastasio, he was 42 years old and was already known to the police as an offender: he was shot and killed in the street in front of his 10-year-old grandson, with whom he was wandering around on a scooter. He would have been approached by another large-displacement scooter with two people on board covered by full-face helmets. The passenger seated in the back would have pulled out a 7.65 caliber pistol and exploded several shots from close range that proved fatal, because Anastasio immediately lost his balance and crashed into a pick-up parked in the street, then crashed to the ground.
His grandson was also injured in the fall from the scooter, now hospitalized: the prognosis is still reserved, but his condition would not be serious. Investigators investigating the matter are at work: the police suspect it was a settling of scores in the context of local crime and are acquiring footage from security cameras in the area.
