The French publisher continues its expansion and is looking for new partners to expand its video game catalog.
August has started strong when it comes to purchasing studies by different companies in the industry. If a few hours ago we informed you of up to seven acquisitions by Embracer Group, and yesterday we did the same with a Nacon Games operation on Session’s parents, now it is the turn of Focus Home Interactive to seize the property of DotEmu.
Specifically, the French-based publishing company has acquired 77.5% of the share capital of the creators of Streets of Rage 4, authentic experts in retro developments for PC and consoles with more than 50 productions, in an operation valued at 38.5 million euros as detailed in a press release. “Composed of a talented and passionate team of 30 people, DotEmu has already demonstrated its expertise in discovering and updating old cult IPs to transform them into critical and commercial successes globally,” details Focus Home.
The operation is valued at 38.5 million euros“The arrival of DotEmu is a key step in the acceleration of the company’s growth and in the diversification of its catalog of experiences. By enriching our editorial line, we are opening a new source of income and new market shares to conquer a sector in rapid growth “, says Christophe Nobileau, CEO of the distributor. For his part, Cyrille Imbert, CEO of DotEmu, has justified the agreement stating that the experience of Focus Home Interactive will allow betting on the production of remake and sequels of turn-of-the-century console classics.
There will be more purchases from Focus Home
As with the Embracer Group, Focus Home Interactive still has a lot to say in the territory of buying new studios. In this sense, Nobileau has assured that they are still looking for new partners to expand their video game offer. In fact, a few months ago they confirmed the acquisition of Deck13, authors of The Surge.
Returning to DotEmu, the company has among its most immediate projects the edition of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, a beat & # 039; em up with The Ninja Turtles, while internally the team is currently working on Windjammers 2.
