From a law that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently signedthe creation of a program that benefits those who have their home within the framework of a condominium. With this new regulation, residents of the state who have their property in condominiums will have the possibility of financing to make improvements that protect the home against hurricanes and access other issues.
The regulations are HB1029 and establishes the creation of the pilot program “My Safe Condominium in Florida”. This new regulation has a similar scope to the My Safe Florida Home program, which dates back to 2006 and provides subsidies so that homeowners can carry out hurricane protection repairs. With the condition that the resident contributes one third of the economic value that the total repair will cost, the state can contribute the remaining money under certain conditions, with a limit of US$10,000 in its collaboration, which translates into a work of US$15,000 as maximum total value.
In that same line, The aforementioned program also facilitates mitigation inspections of single-family homes. While until now this regulation only applies to property owners, with this new law the pilot program was added to test its operation in condominiums in Florida and grant the possibility of applying it to those who share common areas with a group of people.
