Hundreds of houses have been submerged or damaged by recent flooding in Chile, in a period of storms that have also resulted in thousands of people being displaced. The Government declared the Biobío region a disaster zone, one of the most affected.
The authorities have also warned that landslides could occur in coastal areas and in the mountain range between Coquimbo and Los Ríos. It is estimated that the bad weather will continue throughout the week with 65 millimeters of precipitation and winds of up to 50 kilometers per hour.
