Five militant bases in the Syrian province of Homs were destroyed by the Russian Aerospace Forces

The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) destroyed five militant bases in the Syrian province of Homs; they had previously withdrawn from the US-controlled al-Tanf zone, it said on April 19 briefing Deputy Head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Warring Parties (CPVS) in Syria, Major General Yuri Popov.

“Strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed five bases of militants who had left the al-Tanf zone and were hiding in hard-to-reach areas of the Al-Amur mountain range in Homs province,” he said.

Aviation of the so-called international anti-terrorist coalition led by the United States is creating dangerous situations in the skies of Syria, flying in violation of the Deconfliction Protocols and in violation of Syrian airspace, Popov added.

He clarified that during the day, the coalition recorded five cases of violation of the deconfliction protocols of December 9, 2019, related to flights of unmanned aerial vehicles that were not coordinated with the Russian side.

A day earlier, on April 17, the Central Military Command reported the destruction of three militant bases in the Syrian province of Homs by the Russian Aerospace Forces. No shelling of Syrian positions was recorded.

Earlier, on April 14, the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed one base of militants who left the al-Tanf zone. Also in the Idlib de-escalation zone, four attacks on Syrian positions were recorded, carried out by militants of the terrorist groups Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic Party of Turkestan (both banned in the Russian Federation).
