The Pope operated for a diverticular stenosis of the sigma
Quiet night for Pope Francis hospitalized at the Gemelli Polyclinic, the first after the surgery he underwent last night, scheduled for a diverticular stenosis of the sigma, and to which the Pontiff “reacted well”.
The operation under general anesthesia was performed by Prof. Sergio Alfieri, with the assistance of Prof. Luigi Sofo, of dr. Antonio Tortorelli and Dr. Roberta Menghi. Prof. Massimo Antonelli, Prof.ssa Liliana Sollazzi and doctors Roberto De Cicco and Maurizio Soave took care of the anesthesia. Prof. Giovanni Battista Doglietto and Prof. Roberto Bernabei were present in the operating room.
Hospital sources informally report a regular post-operative course. The Pope, according to forecasts, should stay at Gemelli for at least five days.
