The weather in Germany is still pretty calm. In the middle of the week, subtropical air masses cause unusual temperatures. Then it’s really going.
Munich – “It will be a rough weather week,” says meteorologist Dominik Jung from the weather portal wetter.net with. Thanks to Hoch “Philine”, the weather in Germany is still fairly calm and mostly bright. But, in this week of October (October 18-22), exciting developments are announced.
Weather in October: “This is an autumn rollercoaster week!”
“This is an autumn roller coaster week! First up to 25 degrees are reached, after the storm the snow line sinks further down and in some cases hardly 10 degrees are reached, ”predicts weather expert Jung. “We are also getting the first big autumn storm of the current season.” That’s the weather forecast, right?
The German Weather Service (DWD) promises a “heat intermezzo” for Tuesday and Wednesday in its current weather topic of the day. On Tuesday, the maximum values are between 13 and 19 degrees. “On the Upper Rhine and the Eifel, 20 degrees are possible,” reports DWD weather expert Marco Manitta. On Wednesday it will be 17 degrees on the North Sea and 23 degrees on the Upper Rhine. However, these “high” temperatures could hardly be enjoyed without interference. Because, according to his prognosis, dense clouds are already gathering in the north-western half and these are responsible for rain, individual showers and thunderstorms in some areas.
Weather change in October – temperatures up to 25 degrees!
The reason: Hoch “Philine” is shifting its focus more and more to southern Europe on Tuesday. From the west, however, the foothills of the “Hendrik” low pressure area are already reaching into West Germany. Very mild and humid air flows from the Iberian Peninsula via France to Germany. Wednesday is already mixed. Then it gets exciting. Before the storm, a foehn temperatures of up to 25 degrees are possible in the Alps, estimates meteorologist Jung. The weather expert is expecting the first big autumn storm of the season. And in his opinion almost everyone gets something from it.
Storm warning for Germany: weather expert warns of hurricane gusts of up to 150 km / h
“At low altitudes, top gusts of around 100 to 110 km / h are possible, and at high altitudes gusts of up to 150 km / h”, says Jung. The highlight is likely to be in the early hours of the morning on Thursday. After the storm, the wind turns from southwest to north and cold polar air flows in.
First snow?! Temperature drop in October
The snow line should drop to 500 or 600 meters. The first wet snowflakes could fall even at low altitudes. However, if you are not a snow fan, you can breathe a sigh of relief. According to weather expert Dominik Jung, there is no “sustainable onset of winter” in sight. After the drop in temperature, it should slowly become milder again at the turn of the month. (ml)
