Fire badly damaged the hall building in Imatra’s Vuoksenniska on Sunday, says the rescue service of South Karelia.
The fire, which started at five in the afternoon, caused a lot of smoke, which is why the rescue service asked the residents of the nearby area to close the windows and ventilation of the apartments in the early evening.
After 8:00 p.m., the rescue service announced that mopping up work is being done at the fire scene and ventilation can be started again. According to the fire marshal on duty, no injuries were caused by the fire.
Vuoksenniska is located northeast of the center of Imatra. Among other things, there are many shops and business activities in the area.
