Fires Terraced house burned in Lieksa, four apartments destroyed – Also in Oulu a fire in a terraced house

North Karelia In a row house fire that broke out in Lieksa in the morning, four apartments have been put out for firefighting, the rescue service says. Roof and wall structures are mechanically dismantled to extinguish fires.

The smoke from the fire is no longer a nuisance to the surrounding population. Earlier in the morning, people were asked to avoid moving in nearby areas and residents of the downtown area were asked to shut down the air conditioning in their homes.

The Rescue Department said earlier that at least four homes will be completely destroyed in a terraced fire. The other six apartments in the terraced house will remain in habitable condition. Heating and hot water will be made to work on a temporary basis during the afternoon.

The fire did not cause any injuries.

Rescue Department according to the fire is suspected to have ignited from the covered terrace of the backyard, from where it is suspected to have spread directly into the attic of the building. Police and the rescue service are investigating the cause of the fire.

The Rescue Department received a report of a building fire on Väinöläntie just before seven in the morning.

Numerous rescue units were alerted to the scene. Rescue personnel were sent to help from the fire stations in Joensuu and Nurmes, among others.

In Oulu a fire broke out on Saturday morning before ten o’clock in a two-story townhouse on Savusaunantie.

Firefighter Kimmo Virkkala told STT from the early afternoon that the actual extinguishing work was over and a follow-up guard would be carried out at the fire site. A fire investigation has also been partially launched.

According to Virkkala, one of the seven terraced houses suffered total fire damage. In addition, 2 to 3 of the nearest apartments suffer from smoke damage. There were no injuries.
