In Vantaa A fire broke out on the terrace of Tikkurila’s restaurant Shamrock on Wednesday when fireworks hit the terrace furniture and lit them.
The Rescue Department received an alarm about the fire at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Central Uusimaa firefighter Juha Gröhn says the patio furniture had been put under a tarpaulin, fireworks had hit the pile and a fire had broken under the tarpaulin.
The fire did not spread to the structures and no one was injured. The fire was extinguished by a passerby.
“The passer-by had grabbed the action and hauled snow into it to put out the fire,” Gröhn says.
The restaurant was not open at the time of the event.
According to Gröhn, it seemed that it was not planned to aim the fireworks at the patio furniture.
