In Kittilä a fire broke out late Sunday night in the basement of an alpine house in the center of Levi, says the Lapland Rescue Department.
Due to the fire, 11 people had to be evacuated from the building. The fire did not cause any serious injuries, but one was taken to a health center for follow-up.
According to the on-call firefighter, there is a shop and restaurant on the lower floors of the three-storey building. On the top floor, there are holiday apartments for rent. Among the evacuees are not only the hosts but also the staff of one company.
Fire damage is limited to the basement. However, there is smoke damage throughout the building and it is banned.
