In Helsinki A building fire broke out at the intersection of Franzeninkatu and Kaarlenkatu shortly before three in the afternoon.

There is a fire on Franzeninkatu in Kallio, Helsinki.

Exact information about the fire is not yet available, but there are several rescue units on the scene. The Rescue Department urges to be prepared for traffic congestion in Kallio.

The fire produces a lot of smoke in the vicinity. People are advised to close the ventilation and windows if necessary.

Present supplier to HS Liisa Niemi says a fire has broken out in an apartment building currently under construction. The fire would appear from the roof of a burning house, there is a crane on there to put it out.

Workers at the Lapland construction site have been evacuated from the building. One of the workers estimated that no one would have been injured in the fire. There are no flames, but a lot of smoke comes out of the fire.

Franzeninkatu has been cut off from traffic at the fire site. Police are on site to direct traffic.
