In Lappeenranta 11 people have been evacuated from the apartment building due to a fire that broke out in the apartment on the first floor, says the rescue service of South Karelia.
The rescue service received a report of a building fire on Friday a little before midnight. Smoke from the fire spread to the stairwell and the apartments above.
There were no people in the apartment affected by the fire. According to the rescue service, those evacuated from the building are residents of the premises above. First aid checked the evacuees and two of them were transported to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
